Chestnut Street Elm Street 1 Elm Street 2
Track the changing populations of Lawrence in the early twentieth century with census documents. These pages from the 1910 census show large immigrant populations in Ward 2 of Lawrence. A selection from Chestnut Street records many people as Italian and “Russ Polish”, while a selection from Elm Street records many as “Russ Lithuanian” and Italian. Pay attention also to the years of immigration, most of which are recorded as the late nineteenth century, several decades before the census.
